 Windows Server 2008 VPS Now Available

We are pleased to announce the availability of our Windows Server 2008 Virtual Server plans. VPS plans are now available with either a Windows Server 2003 or 2008 configuration.

Windows Server 2008 adds support for IIS7 which provides a security-enhanced, easy to manage platform for developing and hosting web applications and services, along with a number of OS security and usability enhancements.

Existing customers of our Windows 2003 VPS plans can take advantage of our free upgrade offer. Net24 will provision a new Windows Server 2008 VPS for a free two week period to allow data to be migrated from one VPS to another.

 Celebrating 10 Years in Business

Today we celebrate a milestone, 10 years in business. Net24 was officially incorporated on the 9th of September (9), 1999 (The date is purely coincidental!).

We've come a long way since our early days of operating from a spare room, with just two servers and less than 50 customers. Today we have 10 staff, manage over 50,000 domain names for 15,000 customers and operate more than 150 servers in our new privately owned data centre. Quite an achievement that has only been possible with loyal support from our customers.

Our sincere thanks to everyone who has supported us along the way and we look forward to serving you for the next 10 years and beyond.

What happens to additional disk space charges?
Additional increments of disk space is now only available on the Max plan and cannot be added between plans. New pricing is as low as $10 per 250MB. Customers currently paying for additional disk space on the Lite or Plus plan will no longer be billed extra as their usage is likely to be included in the new plan limits. Customers with additional disk space on the Max plan will be revised accordingly.

With significant increases in disk space for all of our plans, now is a good time to visit our web site to familiarise yourself with the new plan limits and adjust your hosting plan if necessary. Your current disk space usage can be checked by logging into the Plesk Control Panel detailed on your original setup sheet.  Dedicated Servers Now Available

We are pleased to announce the availability of our Dedicated Server offering.

As you may be aware, Net24 has recently completed the build of a new private data centre facility which represents a million dollar investment for the company. The new data centre is a state-of-the-art facility utilising the latest in power and cooling technologies from APC. The new data centre provides us with additional server capacity to be able to provide Dedicated Servers.

The Dedicated Servers utilise the IBM System x3350 Server which includes hot-swappable components, dual power supplies and the IBM remote management supervisor to provide full IP over KVM and power controls. We include free domestic traffic, 25GB of international and 50GB of on-site network storage for backups. The SLA includes 24/7 pro-active hardware monitoring with sub 90 minute hardware replacement.

 Media Release: Net24 Slashes Backup Window

A media release has been issued by Tandberg Data profiling our implementation of Tandberg's Data StorageLibrary T40+ for backing up more than 3.2TB of customer data to offsite tape backup.

New SmarterStats Website Statistics Available 

We are pleased to advise that we have completed implementation of a new web statistics package called SmarterStats. Smarterstats replaces Urchin, the existing Web Analytics software.

SmarterStats analyses your web site log files and provides accurate and easy-to-understand reports on your visitors - where they come from, how they use your site, what converts them into customers, and much more. 

Some of the key features of SmarterStats are scheduled emailed reports, improved geographical and search engine reporting, custom reports and an updated user interface using the latest technologies such as AJAX and Silverlight for 3D graphing and reports. SmarterStats will also hold historical statistics indefinitely, compared to the 12 months reporting offered by Urchin.

IMPORTANT: Due to differences between the two statistics programs we are not able to import the 12 months of historical statistics from Urchin into SmarterStats. Urchin will continue to be available until the end of November 2008 for exporting historical statistics. After this time, Urchin will be discontinued and historical statistics no longer retrievable.

If you wish to keep a history of the last twelve months of statistics you will need to login to Urchin and export this information before it is discontinued. Urchin offers easy export tools to Word and Excel and there is a link to the old Urchin login page from the SmarterStats login.

New Online Backup Manager Version Released  

As part of the recent upgrades to the Online Backup Service version 5.2.4 of the Online Backup Manager (OBM) has been released. This release includes feature enhancements and bug fixes including:

• Support for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 / 2007
• Support for backups and restore of individual mail and contact
  items in Exchange Server (known has brick level backups).
• Support for Microsoft SQL Server 2005.
